CHVRCHES Poster

This is the poster project I did for my class recently and it is based on a up coming event in Liverpool. The group is called CHVRCHES, when I was doing my research on a event to do I noticed their logo or their name and thought that is creative as hell. So I did my research and found out they make some great music I'm gonna put a video at the end of the post if you want to check it out for yourself. I like their style not just their music style but also their visual style in their music videos. I came up with a concept that I see a lot which is the cardboard cut out looking style and placed it on a black background. The hardest part was making sure that I put the lettering right because I am not that good at typography as of yet but I am getting there. I will include the digital version and the finished mounted version that will be turned into class. As you guys can see, I've been working I just haven't been posting anything. But that's all going to change hopefully, so until next time ENJOY!

My logo

This is my official, unofficial, logo that I did in class. I don't know what to say about this but let me try. This was picked out of a 100 sketches I did by other students in my class. That is right I had to do 100 hand drawn sketches that all looked different which was at first a pain but I loved it afterwards. Doing those sketches helped me think outside the box and that is the technique that I am going to stick with for the rest of the semester and my career as a designer. The object or assignment was to make 100 designs using my initials which was hard there isn't much you can do with JH but I came up with some great designs which I've missed placed for the time being. For now this is it so I hope you guys like it, like I kind of do haha but for now here it is. I will be posting more later today. 

Just hold on, I'm coming home

Some of you might be wondering where I've been or have I given up and the answer is I don't know. Well let me explain. First, I've been doing hours and hours of work, they got me working vampire hours at my job and I hate it. With this schedule it doesn't give me time to do anything. Secondly, I've been working hard on my school work and I've been getting better at it. Speaking of that I will be posting my works on here soon, probably sometime soon. But don't fear, I'm still here and I will be going hard on these designs I promise you guys. Well this was just a checking in so see y'all soon. 

Winnie-the-Pooh

Sorry you guys for not updating but I've been busy with work and school lately but here is something to hold you over till next time. I woke up this morning and did this also read the story behind this to get a better understanding of this. Okay talk to you guys later, Enjoy!!!

 

Story behind the picture:

 I had a dream about Winnie-the-Pooh & I was Christopher Robins. In this dream when I saw Pooh I ran to him clinching him in my arms telling him how much I missed him, what I'm going through, & how no one but him understands me. Before that moment I was working in some store & talking to some guy about life at this school. In my dream, I don't know if it happens to you but scenes switch in an instant. I felt stressed & overwhelmed & now I realize that moment at the store reference life & what I'm going through now. Working a stressful job & trying to go to school so I can do what I like to do one day & get paid for it. But when I saw Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, & all those characters come out of no where & it seemed like they were searching for me I got overwhelmed. Now I see they were a symbol of my childhood. Going back to a time where I didn't have to worry about all this stuff where I could just have fun & not worry about what others think or what I thought of myself. I could just not worry, & as I was telling him all this stuff he just kept saying to same thing, "it's ok", like a mother would say to there child if they were worried. So I'm here to tell you it's ok no matter what you're going through, life will hurt you but you'll be ok. No matter what you're going through you'll be alright.

Wolverine

Well school has started and I've been busy but I've found time today to finish up my Wolverine sketch, I've posted it on deviantART for those who don't know I have one. I am getting better with the colors and using what I have to get what I want as far as results go. So, here is the finished product and the sketched version as well. Enjoy!!!

School is about to start and lately I've been inspired to draw more. I love art no matter if it is graphic design or illustration, I have a passion for both and hopefully it shows through my progress. Here is a sketch and also the finished product of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Leonardo. I noticed that I am good with color and design work I just have to practice on gestures or bringing the illustration to life. So here is the before and after piece I did of Leo. Enjoy!!
