Sketch of the day [6/25/14]

Its been a while since I did one of these. Here is my sketch of the day, I decided to do a car. I wanted to test out this new style I'm thinking of adapting. I wanted to do something with some movement in it while also practicing on branding. So I decided to build a car from the ground up. This is the first time I've tried to draw a car in a while and I think I was successful in my opinion.  I call the car company Gold Star Finish Co. as you can see on one of the logos and the name of the car is AXi. As you guys can tell the pen strokes aren't that fluent but that will come with practice as this was a really fine pen. But I like it, it shows a lot of movement also I have to show you guys some stuff I have been doing in my summer art class as well so more on the way. Enjoy. 

The Aunt Project

This is what I've been up to this whole week I call it the Aunt Project. Recently my aunt's dog passed away and her other one is really sick. My brother, I would say little brother but he's taller than me, comes up with the idea that I should paint our aunt a picture. This was a great idea so I got to it. I did a thumbnail for the sketch, after that I sketched it out and inked it up, and lastly painted it. I used pastel watercolor pencils so as you can see it's kind of sketchy and needs some work plus I used one brush for the entire painting which was good but had its limitations. It was my first time using it which was frustrating at times because I had no clue what I was doing but it turned out ok. So here it is the Aunt Project. Also I bought some more brushes which were on sale Saturday and framed it for her which was good and only cost me $6.00, thank you Hobby Lobby. I just wanted to say if you have a talent don't keep it to yourself. Well that's it for now, I'm working on something for my cousin & I'll show y'all later.

Daily sketch [05/12-17/2014]

Not a lot of drawing this past week I was mostly working out this whole week trying to get my physical fitness in order but I have come up with some stuff. Lately I've been, not worrying but, thinking about the next step in my education. Just been praying that God guides me in the right direction. The pictures that I am going to show you guy are my recent ones and at least two of them I am going to paint. I've decided to do watercolor with these so here are the sketches for this week:

These next two are the before, the outline, and the after, the sketch, and this is going to be for my cousin that I promised to do three years ago. So I decided to draw a natural girl with pearls around her neck. Also in the little girl's shirt is my cousin's initials which is C.R. So check it out:

Lastly, this layout is for my aunt who's dog pasted away early last week so I decided to do a painting for her as well. This wasn't just a dog to her this was her daughter. Someone she could come home to and who was there to comfort her if she had a bad day. She raised her since she was a little puppy. A lot of people can relate to this because in most cases a pet is not just a animal they are family. So check out the outline and the finished product should be coming soon. This has been a slow week for me because I was in the hospital this week and also school but I can't stress out now, I have to keep moving and going forward. Daily sketches [4/7-13/2014]

I decided to do this again because it seemed productive like the last time. This week I was really Outkast inspired in some of my drawings as you can see. I'm mad at them though, I'm glad they are performing but at the same time why aren't their any shows coming to Atlanta, their home. Maybe they did & I missed it but I saw a live stream of their show which was pretty good, they are old now but they are still good at what they do. I just didn't like the crowd which was showing no type of energy. Also I did a full page sketch that took a couple of days because of work and studying but it turned out good. I called it A Day n the Life, where it sums up what I do on a daily bases. I also have some thumbnails to show you guys to show which one I picked to be the one I went with. I am working on my figures I think I am getting the hang of it. The girl came out looking weird but I am getting closer to figuring out how to draw figures. To the right is the style that I have been working on all week and I am going to keep working on it, it might help me out in the long run.

Sketch of the day [3/27/2014]

This is my sketch of the day. I've been sick and also had tons of work, school work, that I've been doing lately but I found time to try something new. So here are two sketches one is a pencil sketch of Andre 3000 and the other one is a sketch of a chicken which I did digitally. I'm starting to make a schedule for myself, do homework, study, and draw something everyday just so I can get better. I want to create so many things with my art but I have to do it one day at a time. So here are my two daily sketches for today, I hope you enjoy them:

 

 

Daily sketch 3/8/2014[Kanye West]

This is my daily sketch this one is of Kanye West. I've been practicing on poses today and decided to draw Kanye West and I was also practicing on drawing shoes too so I tried to draw the Air Yeezy's. Sorry about that, last week was my midterms and I'm satisfied with most of my grades I need to work on Geology but I did great on my Stastics midterm but here are some sketches I did and there is more to come. Lately I've been stressed but I want to focus on my art work more & I see some improvement. In this sketch you might be able to see me, I'm the one with the glasses, this might not look to me in my opinion but my sister said it's pretty accurate. So here it is:

 

Sketch of the day [2/22/14]

This looks way better on paper but this is the sketch of the day. Two of my favorite players from the Western Confrense Damian Lillard and Lamarcus Aldridge. This is the first step of this I'm thinking about digitally doing this over and see what I can come up with. I'm going to keep trying to get better. Also I've been busy lately so that's why I'm not updating like I should but I'm gonna try to have something done each week. So far this is what I got, I'm proud of this because I'm getting better with faces so I can do it in my style.

Sketch of the day [2/17/2014]

Working on faces now. I got some good advice the other day about if you want to learn to draw faces better you should start with the skull. So here it is you will see more skulls for the next couple of days. Here are some side views, also I'm using a different technique instead of drawing with my wrist I'm learning to draw with my whole arm. I'm getting more movement and longer lines so that's a good thing. Check out the sketch, more to come:

I'm trying to get back drawing something everyday. I don't like the King Snake all that much but I do like the Boy Wonder, I will say this I like the glass look on the snake's upper helmet compared to the other one. Now I am trying to balance everything from my school work, to my art, to working out, and just other aspects of my life. So expect to see more from me whether it's good or bad and also expect to see that elephant project I'm working on sometime next week. Here it is I hope you guys like it:

Sketch of the day [1/29/14]: Godzilla Therapist (color)

I like that I took a chance on this with color it feels like it has taken on a life of its own. I like the different colors variations that I did with the water color pencils in the buildings and also in the planes. I don't think I went out my element with this but I do think I am either getting better with my colors or I'm paying more attention to details. I added more photos so you can see the different color variations I did for the beam and the planes I hope you like this as much as I enjoyed doing this. Looking at the picture now I don't know if it is the color of the paper or the photo but it came out gray, maybe because of the water added to the paper. If that's the case I'll up load it again in another post when it dries up. Anyway, talk to y'all later:

Sketch of the day [1/28/14] Godzilla the Monster Therapist (black &white)

This was a fun sketch I did I called it Godzilla the Monster Therapist. I'm getting into the making my art tell a story. This is the black & white version I'm thinking of adding color to it to make it more interesting. For now this works so check it out & tell me what you think:

 

Also like everywhere else, or for the most part of the world, it's snowing in Georgia and here is a glimpse of what it looks like in my neighborhood also check it out under Photography. I need to take more pictures and post it in photography so look over there for more later. 

Sketch of the day [1/21/14]

Come to think about it this just a preview of the next project. As of now I am working on buying myself a drawing tablet so I can start learning how to draw on the computer. I've now narrowed it down to a Monoprice MP 1060 Graphic Drawing Tablet but I have to see if it's compatible with Gimp the software that I use & if it's compatible with Windows 7. So far the reviews are great and I like the videos that people are posting about it. Well back to the drawing, for now I'm gonna leave it at black and white, I want to try this out on the tablet when I get it so stay tuned for that. Anyway I hope you like the drawing and stay tuned for more:

Sorry about that/Sketch of the day

Sorry about this. Lately I've started school and I've been busy as well. Today has been hectic as well running around trying to fix my driver side mirror. I backed into a poll so yeah that's the end of that story or as much of it as I'm willing to tell because I feel stupid about it lol. Anyway, I got school, work, and other things going on. But I think I'm becoming a better person my mom said I should work on one thing this year as a New Years resolution and that is...I don't know I'm still trying to figure that out. I think it's faith. Anyway this isn't a recent sketch, I did this last year, I'm working on something today so here it is: 

Sketch of the day [1/13/14]

As you can probably tell I'm back in school, it was a great break but it's back to hitting these books. This year seems like I'm gonna be busy. Here is a quick sketch I did of my teacher in my Statistics class which is my last class of the day. You can clearly tell I was paying attention in class :-). But yeah here is something sweet & simple, as I get back to this studying. Alright peace. 

Sketch of the day [1/7/14] [Drug Test Comic]

I wanted to do something different today so I decided to do a comic of how I expect my drug test conversation to go tomorrow. I was suppose to take it a couple of weeks ago but when I got there no one was there so I left. A few weeks later like after Christmas & New Years I just forgot about it. As I was trying to figure out what I was gonna draw today I got a text from my boss making sure I come in tomorrow to take the test. So I gotta drive to the airport & take another drug test, I don't smoke & I barely drink so I don't know why I have to take this test but I'm gonna do it anyway. So here is the order in reading it:

1. I'm here for my drug test. (me)

2. You were suppose to take it 3 weeks ago. (Boss)

3. What can I say, I had to get it all out my system. (Me) 

4. That's nothing to joke about. (Boss)

5. Calm down it was a joke. (Me)

6. Now go in there & per in that cup. (Boss)

So here is the sketch, I like the warm cool contrast but it's mostly warm I think, I haven't been in color theory in a while. Anyway, here it is:
