Daily Sketch [12/29/12]/My day

This is my daily sketch, I call it Sun Goddess & her pet. These are watercolor pencils that my parents gave me for Christmas & I love them already. I like how you can't control what the watercolor does & how it's just like water, it flows how ever it wants. I like what it did with the hair the way it looks like fire & how the hair has movement to it. Check it out for yourself & tell me what you think:

How my day went:
The girl was complete accident I was trying to draw a model & failed but I stuck with it & it paid off in the end, I'm proud of what I did. Today was eventful to say the least. I got a call from my friend Friday saying another one of my friends wants to meet at Five Points & chill so we got in the car on Saturday & headed there. When we got to the train station, our friend wasn't there it turns out he went home when we got there. So the obvious move, decision, was to say forget it & go home but...I wasn't wasting my gas for nothing. So I & Dameel, my friend, wanted to get something to eat. It turned out that the Atlanta Hawks were playing tonight, so we bought tickets on the spot. Usually I wouldn't do this but hey the tickets were cheap & they were playing the Bobcats, a game no one cared about. So we got the tickets & grabbed something to eat.
We finally found a table to sit down at because it is hard trying to find a table to eat at in the CNN Center, yes the actual CNN center, it's not that big of a deal if you're from Atlanta but if you're not then it's probably a big deal. We started eating our pizza that we bought & these two girls sat right beside us but in the beginning we didn't pay them any mind but Dameel asked them a question a few minutes later, by now we are a little buzzed from the drinks we were drinking. So we talked we got their names, they were smart young girls around our age. Long story short, it was a great conversation, we got their names & numbers & we headed to the game about a quarter late.

Got to the game the Hawks were losing despite how good they are this season but it was a great game. It came down to the 4th quarter & they tied it up with a three pointer sending it to overtime, the crowd was going crazy. In overtime they trailed but they came back & won the game by two or three points if I remember correctly. I enjoyed it not only because the Hawks won but it was "supposedly" Dameel's first time going to a Hawks game & we saw one of our old classmates as a Hawks Cheerleader, yeah she's that beautiful & talented, but overall it was a great night. I say this to say, go out & be spontaneous & have fun because you never know what could happen. And those girls I was talking about early invited us to go ice skating on Sunday, and me & Dameel never ice skated before so wish us luck. Alright talk to y'all later.

Sketch of the Day [12/26/13] & Lana Del Rey

I woke up around 5 AM because I couldn't sleep & something told me to get up & draw something, so I did. This is a sketch of a model I found on Tumblr but I remixed it a little. Ok mostly the whole thing is remixed other than the eyes, nose, & the mouth. I felt like I wanted to do something different so I gave her a goth/hardcore look. To me she looks like Lana del Rey mixed with Rogue from X-Men.  Speaking of Lana del Rey my favorite song by her has to be Dark Paradise. So this is the sketch of the day I hope y'all like this because I do. I haven't done something like this in a while. Okay, check it out & the song that's at the bottom of the picture & I'll talk to y'all later:

Still got work to do on working with hair but other than that I really like it. Still practicing trying to get better. Oh yeah, please excuse the Dre Beats headphone cord that's in the picture.

Sketch of the day [12/24/2013]

This is a sketch I did earlier today, I wanted to mix it up. So I sketched it out & added a little color. There are a lot of things that I am not good at and flesh tones are one of them but that is just another aspect that I have to work on. I saw this picture of this model & I loved it she showed so much emotion. I like the way it turned out. In the first one you can see some of her personality come through and that is something that every artist wants and that's to see that his work has personality to it. When you look at it further it looks like the face isn't suppose to go there but the grey pops out more than the color. The grey makes the faces stand out more while the color takes on another personality of it's own. I hope you guys like it as much as I do, so check it out:

I don't really have much to say I like the markers that I used. I don't have much to say maybe I'm just tired so I'm gonna talk to y'all later.

Robot Lion: Nike Lebron 11 "Miami Night" [Rough Draft]

This is what I've been working on for the past two days now. This is the rough draft version though. The only thing I do not like about this is the vectoring that makes it look a little muddy but it turned out okay. I based this off of the colorways of the new Lebron 11's that come out in 12/2014 but is available now for $200, don't know if they are real or not so buy at your own caution. I'm not going to buy them because I don't have that type of money, maybe some have that type of money but I don't. Anyway I hope you like this, check it out and tell me what you think:

Still practicing on gestures so I can finally draw people, that is an aspect in my art that I am working on. Christmas is around the corner and school is coming up in a month I think but a lot is going on right now. Still live by the Big K.R.I.T. verse, "So what you been creating on your free time?" Still working hard man, talk to y'all later.

Christmas Party

Yesterday was an interesting day. It started off with me going to work where I met my favorite team since birth the Atlanta Falcons. It took them forever to show up but it was cool I talked to them for however long I had to talk to them before they had to get on a plane & head to San Francisco to face the 49ers, hopefully they win even though their season hasn't lived up to the hype. After that I came home & met with my family for the annual Christmas Party. This party started long before I was born. It started when my cousin, Doug, won a ham at his school & decided to share it with us. It was a way to bring the cousins together & it's been going on strong for almost over 20 years. I love it, it's always great to see my cousins & it's gotten to the point where I get to see my second generation of cousins that I forget are my second cousins. But no matter what I make sure I try not to miss one, there are times where I'd cancel things with people just so I can go to the party. I didn't take as many pictures, these are mainly on my down time when we weren't doing anything. Here are some of the pictures:

I like the last picture my cousin was tired as heck. We had it over our house this year & man it was a lot of preparing & cleaning up to do I wouldn't wish that much stress on my worst enemy. Overall it was great but I'm back to practicing now. Currently working on that Lebron Lion so I'm gonna get back to work. Talk to y'all later.

Sketch of the day [12/19/2013]

This a collage of what I did today. I went to work at the airport to fill out some paper work. Came home & watched The Sopranos then I practiced on some gesture drawings. I'm  trying to tell myself every sketch is not going to be a work of art just as long as I practice and keep active I should get better. Other than that everything is good right now just working on a lot of things. The guy who wants me to do a logo for him was suppose to be giving me some ideas today but he said he had a lot going on so he should get back with me next week. Well here is the sketch. As you can tell I am still working on the placement of the facial structure. I did not align anything I just went for it. In the right corner you can see the gestures that I worked on. And hopefully you guys can tell that that is a plane on the left:

On a side note I am working on that Lebron Robot Lion thing I posted a couple weeks ago. Just got done with the outline and I am starting on the color today when I get up. I don't know how far I'm gonna get with the color aspect because of all the cleaning and work we have to do before our family come over for this Christmas party. Well that's it for now,

What I've been up to

Well I missed my daily sketch but I am still  practicing on getting better though. I am working on gestures and hopefully I can finally get better at drawing people, which is basically what I am practicing on. Other than that someone wants me to design a logo for them which I agreed to because if I want to do this for a living I need more practice. So that is a stand out for today, it seems like things are starting to make that right turn for the better. I don't know what the future holds but I know I just have to keep trying and do what I love to do. Alright talk to y'all later.

Zip K: Clouded Judgment [What I've been listening to]

This was something I did with my other blog which was reviewing music, fashion, and art and I might pick it back up with this one. Anyway, this is a new mixtape by an artist named Zip Kennedy or Zip K which is on the cover and the mixtape is called Clouded Judgement Click Here to listen to it. This has been on replay for the past week now and I have to say this exceeded my expectations. I was a fan ever since his Jukeboxx days and when he was featured on F.L.Y. and Band Geakz mixtapes back in 2010 I believe. This was a great summer for mixtapes and music in general in my opinion. The two tracks that stood out to me were Show Love and Chevy Hump. Chevy Hump is and has the potential to be a club banger and I also love the part where he added that Sisqo sample he put in the hook to add flavor to the song. And Show Love has a crazy bass line and if you have good speakers, man..., they will hear you knocking coming down the street. Zip is on the "come up", this is what most people say when someone is going to have huge exposure in the music industry. Plus he made a video for the song Chevy Hump and it is already getting some play on such programs like MTV Jams. You can look at the video at the bottom of this post. Overall the mixtape, or cd, is good. Clouded Judgement is great, it has a different feel to it. He has put a collection of different songs and switches up his style so every song is unique which makes it easier for the listener because hearing the same thing over and over again will make anyone lose interest. So listen to it when you have a chance and enjoy:

Daily Sketch [12/17/13]

I told y'all that I was gonna do a sketch of the day and here it is. I am practicing on my landscapes & buildings it turned out differently then what I expected it. Other than that it turned out good in my opinion. I like the way the clouds turned out and how the background looks. I liked how this sketch turned out it turned out good to me, I hope your guys like it. Enjoy:

Just Talking [12/17/13]

I don't have much to post today I don't know if I'm gonna post anything today or not. Knowing me I might come home after work and draw something but who knows. Today I've been buying my family gifts, if you call what I bought them as gifts, just to tell them thanks for all they done for me this year. Also I chilled with a friend today and we were talking about everything. I haven't had human contact with anyone other than my family and coworkers for the past few months so it was good to catch up with friends. I was told one of my best friends named Kellz is starting his own website called Wisdom Infinity. I was told it is a place were artist, whether it be art, music, or whatever can put their stuff up and it will be broadcast to the world just as long as it's dope. Dope meaning good for people who don't know what dope means. So my friends are doing things with their lives and it is good to see that they are doing their thing.
Still working on the blog to see where I want it to go. This is just a outlet for people to view my work so I can just put it out there. Something that Pharrell Williams once said, "You have to put your stuff out there." Even if you think it is bad put it out someone will think it is good and you can build on it. Who knows you might have this great idea, product, or whatever but if you don't let the world see it you might lose on your opportunity. That's something I tell myself everyday, even when I think a sketch is bad at least I did something. Because you don't have to be the best artist, singer, student, athlete, you just have to try. A hard worker will beat anyone with talent any day. So with that you might see a sketch by me by the end of the day or at least before I go to work. Okay talk to y'all later.

Sketch of the Day [12/16/13]

Not my best work, I'm on a slump right now as far as sketch ideas go but I am determined to draw myself out of it. I noticed today I'm not that good at drawing hair so that's an aspect of my ability that I have to work on. You can clearly tell I spent most of my time on the girl than anything else. I'm still practicing on figure drawing, that's slowly coming along, & just overall technique. Well here it is:

Alexander the Great [rough draft]

The reason why I have not uploaded a sketch of the day sketch is because I've been working on this all day. Actually, I've been watching football, cleaning, and doing this today so I've been kind of busy. I had this sketch in my sketch book for a while now and I'm just now doing something with it. Here it is the rough draft of the end product. I did the sketch, cleaned it up a little and then put it in the computer for some practice. If you notice it is just like my header, well the gold part at least, I like using real textures in some of my work. The ART BY JERI part is debatable if I want to leave it on there or not but it is growing on me. Anyway, here it is:

And here is a frame version:

Summer Wars

Just finished watching this movie called Summer Wars & man did it have me hooked from beginning to end. The movie is about a teenage math guy who is tricked by his crush into being her date for some family gathering. This dude is a genius he can crack code as fast as anyone. Anyway, this virus, I think that's what you call it, hacked everyone's online accounts which is globally used called Oz. This Oz is something crazy it has everyone's information in it. This virus threatens to basically destroy the world unless Kenji, the math genius, can figure out how to stop it. Long story short they defeat the virus & save the world but this movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It had so many plot twist and cliff hangers it is ridiculous. The visuals are crazy in this movie. I loved the different style approach to this movie, it kind of reminds you of the Digimon movie if any of you remember. Funny I should mention that because the director of the movie also directed Digimon, Mamoru Hosoda. I highly recommend this movie to anyone that loves art, movies, anime, action, comedy, the movie has the whole package if you ask me. Check out Summer Wars you won't regret it.
As I was watching this movie it got me thinking about the society we live in today. It seems like we are too dependent on computers and technology to help us live or get through our daily lives. This seems like a recurring subject in movies today. With the internet, social media, and everything we have there is no way saying this couldn't happen. Even though Summer Wars is just a movie and just for entertainment it does raise the question; are we too reliant on technology?
The reason why I am up this late watching this is because I'm working on something & I'm liking the way it's turning out. I am almost done give me a day or so, I think I could have knocked this out in a day if I had a tablet but that's why I'm saving up my money. Always invest in your future, the greatest advice anyone ever gave me. Alright talk to you guys later.

Video of the Day

I love this song and I also love the artwork as well. I would love to learn how to do this one day. I think it is fun to know how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, and other software like this. Hopefully I can learn how to use these programs one day, plus I am saving up for a drawing tablet so I can further enhance my digital artwork. The video is great so much detail on the helmets it is crazy how they made it look so realistic. The artist name is TalaMonse look at his YouTube page when you have a chance, he hasn't uploaded many videos but the ones he does are great. I've been looking at different drawings on YouTube and Tumblr in order to keep my eyes fresh and to see what others are doing in order to improve my work. Also if you're wondering the song is called Instant Crush by Daft Punk, so check the video out and enjoy:

Sketch of the day [12/14/2013]

I was wondering what I could sketch today & came up with nothing. Nothing at all so I went into my "happy place" drawing cartoon characters & somehow came up with a robot. Then I decided to add some color. So here it is I call it Rode Da Robot, he's happy it's his last day of school. So here it is I hope you guys like it:

On a side note, I'm watching this movie called Frozen with my mom today. It is a pretty interesting movie about three people stuck on a ski lift & they are trying to survive before they freeze to death. It's entertaining to say the least, check it out if you're interested. Alright talk to you guys later.

Side Project #1 [FInished]

Well I did it in two days, it wasn't that hard at all, so here is the final product. The funny thing about this was the fact that my mom didn't notice that I started painting this a day ago. Also when I was painting her & my sister pulled up, I had the blue tape over the black parts so paint wouldn't get on them. So at first glance or from a distance it looked like I painted the whole thing blue, my sister then had the nerve to say it was ugly. My family is too honest at times but then she noticed it was tape & she took what she said back. I left the buckets their natural color/texture to give it that old look. My mom said it looked like an old married farm couple but I thought it looked like a brother & sister helping out grandma & grandpa on the farm. It's funny how people can interpret something different off one picture or artwork. I hope you guys like this as much as my family does, here is the finished product:

Today was a long day. Woke up at 7:30 a.m. to drop my brother off at school, came home couldn't go back to sleep so I ate breakfast & went to sleep. Woke up went to the gym, came home finished this up, took a shower, & I'm off to work in a couple of hours. I just keep reminding myself of what Big K.R.I.T. asked in one of his songs "...So what you been creating on your free time?". So I'm trying to use all my hours to my advantage. Okay, anyway, talk to y'all soon.

Daily Sketch [12/13/13]

This is today's sketch. I got the idea from just playin around on a piece of paper & it transferred over to my sketch book. I hope you guys like it:

I was debating using color but I just decided just to leave it black and white. I'm still working on my composition but I will get there in due time.Overall I love the kid in this picture, I hope you enjoy looking at this picture as much as I loved drawing it.

Side project #1 [Day 1]

Well my dad had me to touch up some old statues, I think you can call them that, because he said it needed to be touched up. Personally I like the old look on these things but hey he's the boss, plus I live under his roof so I'll do what he saids. He wants the body to be black, he wants the boy to have blue overalls while the girl has a red dress, thinking about it now it doesn't seem that bad. I finished up the bodies & I'm about to work on the clothes tomorrow. I actually enjoyed this, I haven't spray painted anything in a while. But the bad part was being out in the freezing cold for a while. It only took me a hour & a half I think, I'm not for sure but I enjoyed it. Anyway here are the before & after pictures:
Before.
After.

I will keep the buckets covered for now because he never told me what he wanted me to do with them. This is probably gonna be a three day thing I could finish it up today but I have work & we have to get our house together for our annual Christmas Party and it will be at our house this year so you know what that means...a lot of cleaning. I hope you enjoyed this I will talk to you guys soon.

Sketch of the day [12/12/13]

Came home from work & decided to sketch something so I saw this girl on tumbler & decided to draw her. Hopefully you can tell its a woman. I have a few things to work on but I am slowly getting there. I'm slowly learning how the human body is made or connected. The middle of the eyes are parallel to the top of the ears. The tip of the nose is parallel to the bottom of the ears. The middle of the mouth is parallel to the jaw line. I'm just getting closer to becoming better one sketch at a time. Looking at it now I still have a long way to go but I'm getting there. So here it is my sketch of the day and my fat fingers lol:

On a side note this semester is over I passed all my classes plus I got some great news that I will be graduating in the Spring of 2014, that's great news considering how long it feels that I've been at the school I am at now. I can finally move on to the next level, hopefully graphic design at Ga State. Also, I will be taking painting next semester so who knows I might take an interest in it and hopefully share some of my work on here. Okay that's it for now talk to you guys soon.
